I am currently designing & building my new web site (Seems to be taking for-ever so apologies if your waiting)  which will enable you to view the equipment I use, get an accurate description of the equipment, see the different size setups i use & provide you with useful links to other sites involved in the entertainment industry, including equipment hire for D.I.Y DJ's euipment sales, limo car hire, outside bar facilities, photographers etc... But most importantly, what i can do for you to make your event special & unique.  so please check back regularly for an update.

I run a mobile disco & karaoke unit avaliable for any party & venue. I am based in dersingham, Norfolk but will travel. I have over 15 years experience with mobile DJ'ing.

All equipment is PAT tested (portable appliance testing) which is a legal requirement & we have upto £5 million public liability cover should the unfortunate happen.

Some venue's (especially council owned) require the above to allow an entertainer to perform so you know your in safe hands

A little bit about me

I started my career in the typical way, as a rodie for another disco which i was quite happy with untill i was approached by some friends of the family who ran a fully equipped catering and function room venue, They were looking for a full time resident DJ to cater for wedding receptions, Birthday parties, Anniversaries etc.. Being a young man on a yts training scheme not earning a lot of money i thought "hey? why not?" i'd started collecting music (back when vinyl was still king) and had enough to cater for a simple disco so took the job on. I ended up doing residency there for three years before an accident at work forced me to quit. fortunately i used the money i'd earnt and my yts training (Electrician) to start building my own disco unit. after 6 months of recovery i was ready to hit the road, so began my life as a mobile DJ.

 The sound system consists of Peavey Hisys XT 118 sub bins with Hisys 2 XT 15 tops. Using a Bi-amped speaker management system gives more control over the whole system resulting in a clearer sound.
 We also have a set of Mcgregor PW600 Bass bins to add extra bass if required.
Various lighting effects including dmx. traditional light screens (light boxes) & uv lights. I am constantly purchasing new effects to add or replace to my show so the light show just gets better & better. my music collection now expands over all genre's and varieties so there's something for everyone. We currently use CD's but we are currently in the process of transfering to a PC based system where the sound quality will be improved to 320Kbs 96'000 Khz studio quality so you hear the music in the way the artist intended it to be heard.

We use the same sound system for the karaoke as we do for the disco so there's no compromise in quality. As well as the Peavey system, we have a small monitor system and a 14 channel warrior digimix so we can supply PA for a small group or band. there's also the use of two JTS true diversity UHF radio microphones for the professional. although extra microphones are available, wired or radio.

I started doing karaoke 10 years ago when i went into partnership with a family member. after 3 years my business partner ventured to pastures new leaving me to fulfill our bookings so i purchased my own equipment & continued with the work. I now have a variable set-up which enables me to set-up in the corner of the smallest venue or spread out across a large venue where i can provide a big screen to display the lyrics onto and/or video camera capture to project a realtime video of you & your guests signing. I currently have a collection of over 2500 songs on CD+G with a variation for all ages to sing their favourite songs but I am constantly updating & expanding my collection as the months go on.

I have been told by previous clients & their guests that i have one of the most varied karaoke collections they've seen. The most popular requests are their & some of the most wanted. You dont need thousands of disc's to have a great collection just a good choice.

Unlike some karaoke's I DO-NOT let groupie followers take preference over your guests/customers. I take a fun relaxed approach to ensure everyone gets treated fairly & not feel they are being judged. Yes there are some people who can sing & sometimes this makes the non experienced feel aprehensive but don't worry.... I treat everyone the same & help you out if you get stuck... All the tracks can be pitch controlled & effects are added to suit your voice (All singer's including professionals, pop stars ect... use effects) & if it doesn't go right the first time, we start again untill it's right. Remeber karaoke is for fun.... It's not a competition.. (Unless you want it to be :o)

Useful information to consider before booking any Entertainment

In this modern day & age, entertainers are using many different formats to reproduce or broadcast music. The most common format is MP3 files which can be played on i-Pods, MP3 music player's or laptops (to name the most common)

If you hire an entertainer who uses any of these formats to play music then the entertainer must hold a current music licence to legaly play/broadcast music.

PLEASE NOTE: It is the responsibility of the entertainer to purchase/obtain such a licence, NOT the venue or client. the venue owner's must have an entertainments licence (Known as a PRS or PPL licence) but this does not cover the music format the individual entertainer uses. check with your entertainer what music format they use & whether they currently have the appropriate licence.
Most Mobile Disco's/DJ's (If using a digital source to play music) will have a PRO-DUB licence, But sadly there are some who do not.
It is illegal to play music from a digital source without the entertainer holding such a licence and any or all equipment in violation of this law can be confiscated with immediate effect regardless of the entertainer's contract agreement with the client.

AT PRESENT, WE DO NOT USE A DIGITAL SOURCE TO PLAY MUSIC FROM SO DO NOT REQUIRE A PRODUB LICENCE

Other obstacles you may come across are P.A.T & PLi.

Most council owned/operated venue's will not allow any entertainer (or company) to set-up or operate their equipment without these two certificates.

PLi (Public Liability Insurance): Is exactly as it suggest's, insurance...... It safe-guards the entertainer against any unfortunate accidents or incidences (& they have in the past) which may occur during the time they or their equipment is on site. It also offer's you peace of mind & safty should the unfortunate happen. there is no minimum amount required but most entertainer's will have a minimum of £1 million, some will have upto £10 million but this depends on the individual.

P.A.T (Portable Appliance testing): Is a test done by a special machine (along with visual inspection) performed by a competent person which tests all electrical items from the plugs to the big fancy lighting effects to make sure they are safe to use & are not going to cause injury to any persons who may come in contact with them. Some believe this test to only be a volentary test & to a point they are correct but technically it does come under the electricy at work regulations 1989 so is there-fore a legal requirement.

Do not be fooled, PAT testing is not a legal requirement. However, Under the Electicity at work regulations of 1989, It is your responsibility to prove you have taken every step possible to ensure all electrical appliances are safe to handle & use. PAT testing is the highest recognized test to prove you have taken steps to avoid dangerous or hazadous conditions should the unfortunate happen.
